Watershed Wise: Business

Watershed Wise-business

In this section, learn about ways to implement stormwater and low impact development practices in your place of business and how to engage your workplace in protecting the San Antonio River Watershed.

Apply for a Rebate

The Watershed Wise Rebate program rebates construction of on-site stormwater best management practices (BMPs) to either new construction or retrofitting on property. The rebate program is available for businesses, non-profits or government entities in Bexar, Wilson, Karnes, and Goliad counties.

Improve your Workplace

DID YOU KNOW: In San Antonio, stormwater does not drain into a sanitary sewer system.  It flows directly into our creeks and rivers. Visit this section of our website to discover simple modifications you can do at your place of business that can help protect the San Antonio River Watershed.

SA2030

San Antonio 2030 District Logo2030 Districts® are forming throughout the U.S. to establish and work toward meeting energy, water and vehicle emissions reduction targets for new construction and retrofits. They “bring property owners, managers and developers together with local governments, businesses, and community stakeholders to provide a business model for urban sustainability through collaboration, leveraged financing, and shared resources.” Find out more here.

The San Antonio 2030 District was created in 2015 “to keep San Antonio competitive and ensure a resilient, vibrant city in 2030.” As a founding member, SARA has guided the District on adoption of goals for increased onsite stormwater management using Low Impact Development (LID). The inclusion of LID with energy, water, and emissions targets makes San Antonio’s District unique within the nation. In addition to the water quality benefits for which it is known, LID will be a natural fit to the 2030 District goal of combating climate change on a local level by reducing water and energy usage and decreasing CO2 emissions.
