Watershed Wise: Grant

Watershed Wise School Grant

The grant application process is open for the Watershed Wise School Grant! The San Antonio River Authority (SARA) Watershed Wise School Grant provides funds to build stormwater runoff capture features on a school grounds within Bexar, Wilson, Karnes, and Goliad counties. K – 12 public schools are eligible.

The goal of this program is to create awareness of the negative impacts from stormwater runoff on our creeks and rivers, as well as to reduce stormwater runoff on the school site. The purpose of this grant is to educate the public about campus drainage issues including nonpoint source pollution, localized flooding and erosion, and how to address these issues utilizing low impact development features.

Funds are applicable for design, construction, and installation of rain gardens, bioswales, cisterns, or a combination of all. SARA’s educators will provide in-class, hands-on, TEKS-aligned presentations, lessons, and activities dedicated to the importance of low impact development features.

The grant application period for the 2017-18 school year ended Feb. 2, 2018. Applications are currently under review for three (3) $22,000 grants.
