Call for Proposals
Formal and informal educators are invited to submit a proposal to present at Pollinator Practices: The Educators’ Show-n-Tell Symposium.
This event is part of the 2019 Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Festival in San Antonio, Texas. The Symposium will be hosted at Confluence Park on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 9am to noon.
Selected presenters will share their best pollinator-supporting classroom practices to an audience of fellow educators. Presenters may present pollinator-centric activities, lessons, and demonstrations that have been shown to be successful in their classroom. Both formal and informal educators are eligible to submit a proposal. Proposals will be evaluated on 1.) how the learning objective supports the theme of inspiring actions toward pollinator stewardship, 2.) explains how the lesson or activity improves pollinator themed learning outcomes with students and 3.) the feasibility that the lesson or activity can be easily replicated and/or modified for future users of the lesson or activity.
If selected, presenters are expected to provide a written and digital copy of the presentation, activity, and/or lesson one week before the event (deadline October 4th). Symposium organizers will then provide copies to Symposium attendees. Presenters earn one (1) additional State Board of Education Credit (SBEC) hour, in addition to the 3 SBEC hours for attending.
A San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) education and outreach panel will review proposals. Proposals will then be accepted at the discretion of the River Authority.
Proposals are due by 11:59 pm on September 16, 2019. Announcements will be made on September 18, 2019. If your proposal is accepted to the symposium, we will email further instructions at that time.
