Since the 1960s, SARA has been active in water resources planning, which entails identifying and securing sufficient water resources to meet our basin’s needs, both now and in the future.

Serving as the program manager for Region L, also known as the South Central Texas Region;

Working with regional partners to develop State Water Plan projects, including aquifer recharge dams, the research and development of desalination options, and conservation and water reuse projects;

Implementing long-term plans to accommodate future regional water demands;

Administers and manages the Regional Water Resource Development Group (RWRDG);

Developing and acquiring water resources for communities voicing immediate water resource concerns;

Assisting in aquiring and protecting sensitive land over the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone; and

Performing technical and administrative functions for other water resource agencies or groups.
