2003 BASIN SUMMARY REPORT
The San Antonio River Basin Summary Report provides an overview of monitoring and assessment activities in the San Antonio River Basin. The report was prepared by SARA Environmental Services Department staff in coordination with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and in accordance with the State's guidelines. The report presents a five-year history of the levels of bacteria, nutients, aquatic life use, and other water quality parameters at over 50 sites throughout six watersheds in the basin, covering the period January 1998 through December 2002. Trend analysis was performed on data covering a ten-year period, from January 1993 through December 2002.
A demanding regime of guality assurance and quality control procedures was developed to ensure that all data developed by the program would be stastically valid, legally defensible, and comparable to data collected from other watersheds in the State. The report provides a program overview, explains water quality and monitoring results, lists the monitored stream reaches, and summarizes the status of water quality within the San Antonio River Basin.
