75th Anniversary Events

In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the San Antonio River Authority (SARA) will host and participate in several events over the next nine months. We hope you and your family can join us!

June 16, 2012 – "If the River Could Talk" exhibit opens at the Witte Museum in San Antonio (www.wittemuseum.org). This exhibit features fossils, tools and other great finds from the construction of the San Antonio River Improvements Project.

June, 2012 – SARA releases the 75th anniversary issue of its River Reach newsletter. This special issue will reveal SARA's history through photos, a timeline and personal recollections. Sign up to receive this special issue and future issues of the River Reach in your email!

July 21 (Wilson County), August 4 (Goliad County), August 18, 2012 (Karnes County) – SARA hosts Archive & Watershed History events in downstream communities. SARA will present a selection of materials from SARA's archive. Citizens will also have an opportunity to add copies of personal photos and written personal stories to SARA's archive.

September 29, 2012 – SARA will host the first annual Saspamco Paddling Trail Flotilla. This paddling trail covers 12 miles of the San Antonio River in south Bexar County and north Wilson County. Bring your canoe or kayak for a great slow-water paddle on the San Antonio River!
