Is there one test that will tell me my water is safe to drink?

With over 120 different EPA Drinking Water regulated contaminants; there is no single test to determine if your water is safe to drink. At a minimum, consider having your well water tested annually for nitrate and coliform bacteria. This line is answered 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday, except state holidays. Inform the receptionist why you are calling and you will be transferred to the appropriate TCEQ staff member.

Why should I use a NELAP accredited lab?

Because the results of the tests you request may be used to determine the presence or magnitude of a problem, it is vital to know that the laboratory analyzing the sample(s) is capable of producing quality data. NELAP accredited laboratories set the standard for producing data that is of known and documented quality. A highly trained staff together with an established and documented quality system ensures the highest level of excellence for laboratory performance. NELAP accreditation is also a requirement for laboratories that submit data to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
