December 2-4, 9-11 & 16-18, 2011

Experience the Holiday serenity of the River Walk as you stroll along the lush banks of the San Antonio River guided by more than 6,000 Luminarias. Warmly glowing candles in sand-filled bags line the walkways to symbolically mark the "lighting of the way" for the Holy Family. This century’s old tradition begins at dusk Friday, Saturday & Sunday only.

Art.i.copia: A Holiday Abundance of Artistic Gifts

For one day only, the Southwest School of Art’s Gallery Shop will overflow with an Art.i.copia of unusual and tempting gifts. There, shoppers will find artful, contemporary objects, enjoy holiday refreshments, and not worry about parking (which is free and plentiful).

Artists and artisans from all over the U.S. designed the opulent textures, sinuous glass pieces, unique ceramics, paintings and sculpture, and masterful jewelry on display.

This popular, long-running event will also feature collections by a selected group of high-end local artists including Lorena Angulo, Jane Bishop, Jennifer Datchuk, Mary Fischer, Robin Renee Hix, Dale Jenssen, Diana Kersey, Pricilla Martinez, Laura Quiones, and Kari Stringer. Also, delicious gifts by Ms. Chocolatier and Al’s Gourmet Nuts.  Lunch and other delictible treats will be available at Wheelie Gourmet Food Truck, at the school.

It’s the season for giving – and purchasing holiday gifts at Art.i.copia helps support the many community programs of the non-profit Southwest School of Art.

Run Wild Sports and the San Antonio River Authority invite you to put on your favorite holiday attire and come run/walk at your leisure around the glowing river throughout the Museum Reach!  Prizes will be given for top costumes so deck the halls!

Rio San Antonio Cruises will have taxis traveling throughout the Museum Reach and into the downtown Riverwalk throughout the night. You can purchase a ticket from the barge operator. The barge times are subject to the amount of guests traveling. These are river taxis so they will stop, pickup, and drop off at several locations along the river. Typically, a guest can expect to see 2-3 barges within a one hour period.
