RIVER OF LIGHTS 2013 - DEC 6 - JAN 1
From Pearl through the Museum Reach and into the River Walk.
From December 6 through January 1, experience the San Antonio River Authority's Museum Reach River of Lights. Beginning at the turning basin near Grayson Street and flowing southward to Lexington Avenue, this 1.3 mile stretch of the river will come alive in an array of colors and lighting. Experience over 100 underwater lights, fiber optic lights throughout many of the water features, LED rope lighting crossing from one side of the river to the other, light posts wrapped in LED holiday lights and much more!
In addition to the Museum Reach River of Lights, take advantage of other holiday themed events along the River Walk from our partners including:
Paseo del Rio's Ford Holiday Boat Caroling
December 4-22, 2013
6 p.m. - 9 p.m. nightly
Starts at river level by Chamber of Commerce (near the corner of Commerce and S. Alamo St.)
Joyous caroling fills the evening air along the San Antonio River Walk as more than 185 school, church, company, and civic choral groups ring in the holidays by singing traditional carols on cruising boats. Join visitors from around the world in impromptu sing-a-longs from the patios of River Walk restaurants. Viewing is free to the public. More information can be found at www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com.
Rio San Antonio Cruises will have taxis traveling throughout the Museum Reach and into the downtown Riverwalk throughout the night. Participants can purchase a ticket from the barge operator. The barge times are subject to the amount of guests traveling. These are river taxis so they will stop, pickup, and drop off at several locations along the river. Typically, a guest can expect to see 2-3 barges within a one-hour period.
Join Pearl and Brackenridge Park Conservancy for an evening together to celebrate the season with choral performances and the opportunity to sing along. Held at the Park on Pearl Parkway from 6 – 8 p.m., guests will enjoy carols, iced cookies, cocoa, photos with Santa and fun for the whole family.
Dress up in a samurai costume and pose for a picture in the Discovery Gallery of the Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armor exhibition through January 5. This special exhibition is free for ages 17 and under. There is a $5 charge for adults 18 and up.
Joyful Sound & Children’s Choirs Christmas Concert
